Star Wars Custom Of The Week: 'The Mandalorian' Beskar Steel Ingot By PsyFoolRulez Customs

This week's custom is a replica Beskar Steel Ingot from The Mandalorian by PsyFoolRulez Customz


"Ever since I saw the Beskar steel ingot in Chapter 1 of The Mandalorian, I knew I had to attempt making one....but the problem was the embossed Imperial logo at the corner of the ingot....How to replicate that?....Just pasting a decal won't look nice....then, by a stroke of luck, I found a hard rubber tag (possibly a keychain of sorts) laying around that has a raised Imperial logo on one side and a Rebel logo on the other side....The size looks perfect so I proceeded to cut off the excess around the logo...next, I cut a 3mm PVC board (10.5cm by 6cm based on some reference I found on the net) and cut out a circular hole slightly bigger than the logo so that there will be a recessed rim around it....Then, I pasted another 2mm PVC board underneath to cover the bottom of the ingot...and slotted and glued the logo inside the hole....After some sanding of the edges, I primed it in Krylon black and followed with Krylon chrome....The black details on the emblem were hand painted with black acrylic....The last thing to do is the swirly finish which I had no idea how to do...a few friends suggested electro-dipping (I have no idea how to do that) or air-brushing (don't own one )....so I just tried using black pastels and applied the swirly design free-hand with a cotton bud....Well, final product is not 100% accurate but I'm satisfied with it nonetheless, just to give a bit of that distinctive finishing on the ingot...."
