Chinese Theater Chain Pulls The Last Jedi Following Poor Performance

After a disappointing two weeks, the nationwide Chinese theater chain, Lumiere Pavilions, has completely pulled the film. Following a $28.7 million debut, and $2.4 Million (a 92% drop) for week two, chain chairman Jimmy Wu says, "It's performed much worse than we could have expected.” The film is estimated to take less than $50 million in China, compared to $124 million for The Force Awakens, and just below Rogue One’s $69 million. Unlike the US and many other countries, the original trilogy was not shown in Chinese theaters until 2015, ahead of The Force Awakens Ironically, the comedy that has beat The Last Jedi over the last few weeks, The Ex-File 3: The Return of the Exes, and its predecessor The Backup Strikes Back, are named after Star Wars films
