Star Wars: The Old Republic Game Trailer

Jay Cochran - June 06, 2011

Protected by the legendary Jedi Order, the Galactic Republic stood as a bastion of peace in the galaxy for a thousand generations. Several centuries ago, the greatest threat the galaxy has ever known emerged in the form of the dark Sith Empire. After a volatile war, the Republic emerged victorious and the Sith were assumed to be extinct. Nonetheless, the Jedi have maintained a constant vigil over the ancient Sith homeworld, to protect the galaxy from the darkness that still resides in the planet’s tombs.

In Star Wars: The Old Republic, players will explore an age thousands of years before the rise of Darth Vader when war between the Old Republic and the Sith Empire divides the galaxy. Players can choose to play as Jedi, Sith, or a variety of other classic Star Wars roles, defining their personal story and determining their path down the light or dark side of the Force. Along the way, players will befriend courageous companions who will fight at their side or possibly betray them, based on the players’ actions. Players can also choose to team up with friends to battle enemies and overcome incredible challenges using dynamic Star Wars combat.

“Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is the most critically acclaimed Star Wars game in LucasArts history and a preeminent example of our company’s interactive storytelling heritage,” said Darrell Rodriguez, President of LucasArts. “For a long time, we’ve wanted to return to the franchise in a grand way, and we felt that the best setting for it was an online world that would allow millions of people to participate in the experience together. We knew that the developer capable of working with us to deliver an engrossing story with a fully-realized online world was BioWare.”

“Traditionally, massively multiplayer online games have been about three basic gameplay pillars - combat, exploration and character progression,” said Dr. Ray Muzyka, Co-Founder and General Manager/CEO of BioWare and General Manager/Vice President of Electronic Arts Inc., “In Star Wars: The Old Republic, we’re fusing BioWare’s heritage of critically-acclaimed storytelling with the amazing pedigree of Lucasfilm and LucasArts, and adding a brand-new fourth pillar to the equation – story. At the same time, we will still deliver all the fun features and activities that fans have come to expect in a triple-A massively multiplayer online game. To top it all off, Star Wars: The Old Republic is set in a very exciting, dynamic period in the Star Wars universe.”

They seen to move pretty good at my target here in Mayslanding NJ. I only see about one of each kind left on the pegs. But when I go to other stores I do find that they are starting to warm the pegs.

I blame this on the fact people might be a lil scared that if they start to get all invested in this line, then Hasbro is gonna start to slip in Cybertron repaints! & who the heck needs more Cybertron repaints?? Its like Hasbro just can't resist, they managed to stall the movie line with a flood of repaints, & people are worried the same might happen with the Universe IMO.

that could be but i dont think they would do that i hope cross fingers . it might happen if we dont keep on hasbro.

as long as they keeping making new molds for the G1 guys ill be happy.

Octane, Sunstreaker, and Prowl clog the shelves right now while I only see Powerglide everywhere. No Sign of Onslaughts or Silverbolts. I guess everyone's interested in those but are ordering the Takara Powerglide.

I sneeze from the dust everytime I walk by them.

By all accounts they are not. There are only 5 different TFU deluxes available out of two waves shipped, and those two have been released in more quantities than any of the other three. So of course you are going to see them all over the place. It does not mean that no one is buying them. If they are pegwarming by the time wave 4 should be hitting, then I would say good toys are collecting dust.

i hear you man.

they are great figs and i have been looking at customs as i want a jazz & wheeljack out of prowl. so now i need to find a customizer that can hook me up.

It is when you only get 3 figs in a case in a wave. So that lets ppl grab them all. so hasbro sends more but there are only so many ppl to buy them.

they need to put out 2 figs in a case ie 2 prowl, 2 SS, 3 tankor 4 acid storm 5 galvatron .look how well wave 2 acid storm & glav are selling but they are resending the first 2 out agin. so they will sit as everyone wants the new ones. I was lucky to find AS & Glav but had to go to 3 dif stores to get them. were there was 1 of one or the other and like 4 or 5 of prowl & SS .

so if they put say 5 figs a wave at 2 each. they wont sit as long and give us more to chose from. plus they should have more then 2 or 3 figs at a time. like wave 3 you get ironhide, sideswipe & silver streak so i hope they put glav & acid storm in that wave. and not have 3 figs one wave then 2 the next and so on as they will take the ones from wave 1 to stick in there to make a case.

all in all when you only get 2 or 3 figs a wave the extras will sit. The jones line is the worst man i see them sit everywhere just piling up as they send more and more out.

Gah!! I found Tankor (Octane?) last Saturday morning! Should I have grabbed him?

Still...

These are good figures collecting dust

Means nothing about how many are in a csae

These are good figures just collecting dust

It certainly DOES. With only three different figures in a wave that means each case has more of all three figures than a case with, lets say 4 or 5 different figures. More supply than upfront demand, assuming demand for unique figures remains unchanged. By all indications they are selling enough to let the two new figures from wave 2 come out. Look at Indianna Jones. Wave 1 and 2 warm the pegs so bad its nigh-impossilbe to find the newer Last Crusade wave. THAT is a problem, Sunstreaker and Prowl really are not.

Agent Adam - 2008-08-26 @ 11:06 pm

I think the issue with Prowl and Sunstreaker is due to the fact that there were only 3 different figures in the first wave. While this doesn't explain why Octane seems to sell, he is slightly shortpacked compared to his Autobot casemates. (3x Sunstreaker, 3x Prowl, 2x Tankor so if someone buys a full set there's still one of each Autobot left.) The wave two case breakdown only helps a little with 2x of each Sunstreaker and Prowl. Some of the wave 2 revision cases only have 1x Sunstreaker or Prowl, but still 2x of one of those. You'll be seeing both of them until sometime after wave 3 hits.
