SDCC Day 2: Hasbro Panel 'Live Coverage'

We are bringing you live coverage of the Star Wars Hasbro panel here at the 2009 San Diego Comic-Con.

Derryl DePriest (Hasbro Global Marketing), Brian Parrish, Mark Boudreaux, Brian Merten, and Vickie Stratford (Hasbro Design), and Chad Donvito (Hasbro US Marketing) reveal what's in store for Star Wars for the remainder of 2009.

We will be posting updates from the panel as they happen over the course of the next hour, so be sure to refresh your browser on a regular basis. Often with these panels, the information comes fast, so we apologize now for any typos or mispellings of names that might come about during this live coverage. We will try and go back later and edit any such mistakes, but want to get you the information as quickly as possible.

The Star Wars Hasbro team is very excited about the phenominal success of Clone Wars and is looking forward to the tons of toy products that are coming up.

The Legacy line is also continuing with a lot of new figures and vehicles planned.

Hasbro is very intentionally making products for both children and their parents.

Luminara, Blue Royal Guard, Captain Thice and Battle Droid are coming up for Clone Wars. There are also a wide variety of clone characters coming, including Tank Gunner, Y-Wing Pilot, as well as IG-36 and Padme.

There is a diorama contest about to start with a $1000 worth of Star Wars product as the prize. Go to Hasbro.com/Starwars and post your diorama. The fans will then vote and along with a panel of judges, will select the winner.

Clone Wars figure and vehicle packs are coming. Anakin on a flying wasp, clone trooper on a speeder bike and a crab droid. Obi-Wan will be coming with his speeder bike.

3 3/4 vehicles will include Anakin's jet fire and a T1-150 tank. There is a Corporate Aliiance Tank with working center tread and a redeco of Anakin's starfighter. Yellow Y-Wing and Arc170 fighter from the Imperial Shadow Squadron are also planned.

There are 46 Droid Factory figures planned for 2009. Coming up are Obi-Wan with a new, highly articulated design. There are also figures planned for L3, Pod Racer, new Slave Leia, and Jabba's Rancor handler. A new Jedi Luke is coming with two different, changeable chest panels to have his jacket either open or closed. New Ewok 2-pack is planned with one never before seen Ewok. Num Num, Chewbacca, Jawa with sentry droid and R2 with blue lightning around him.

Comic 2-packs will include the Black Hole trooper with a Black Hole.

The Battle Pack line has new assortments coming. There will be a five pack of Ewoks, Luke with Obiwan and the droids around the holo-chess table and a 4 pack that includes Luke, R2 and Boba fett, as well as one of Jabba's yacht guards.

For the Galactic Heroes line there will be a Slave 1 vehicle, along with new characters.

The crossovers with Transformers also continues. Four of the upcoming releases will be shown so check the picture gallery. Several more are planned.

The Titanium diecast line is also continuing until the end of 2009 and then will go on hiatus. The line is not cancelled though Hasbro has no plans for releases after 2009 at this point.

Walmart has an exclusive wave coming but quantities will be more limited than they were last year, so buy quickly is you want the figures.

Three Evolution packs are coming, including Rebel pilots and Empire pilots.
There is a giant Octuparra Droid coming to Walmart. A prototype was shown at the panel and it was about as big as a person's torso.

Wedge Antilles X-Wing, with ladder, is coming to Walmart. The ship includes a new, in-scale Wedge figure.

Clone Wars 2-packs are planned for regular release every year. Some will be new, some will be redecos.

Toys R Us will have a Commander Thins.

Comic packs are coming to Walmart. Rogue Squadron figures and IG-97 are planned.

An Imperial Y-Wing is headed to TRU.

New AT-ST, Imperial Walker, is headed to Walmart. There is room for 2 figures in the control room. It will fire projectiles.

There is a re-tooled Republic Gunship for TRU.

Target also has some exclusives. 2-pack Genosis battle arena figures are coming. There will be 6 sets in the first half. If they sell well, there will be 6 mores. Kit Fisto, Yoda, Mace, battle droids and Roc are included in this wave. Battle Droid figures will actually fold up, as seen in the movie.

Toys R Us gets a new Tie Interceptor with a cockpit update and some other corrections, such as ejection seat and opening hatch.

Walmart gets a new Sand Trooper and Dewback. There is ankle articulation, along with the other standard POA, for the Dewback.

There is a new Tie Fighter coming to Target. The panel promises it will be the ultimate version.

For 2010, there are several clone troopers that include Hondo Onnaka.

Jasen Solo, Space Trooper, phase 1 Dark Trooper are coming for the Droid Factory.

There will also be a mail-in figure in 2010 from the Clone Wars line. Collect 5 of any basic figure from any line and gets a Darvinn figure.

Star Wars fan choice from 2006 has resulted in 20 of the 25 choices being released to date. There will be a new fan choice vote in 2009. They are looking for the top 30 figures. Hasbro only promises to do one, but odds are good most will see the light of plastic. All Star Wars toy websites will be contributing to this top 30 list.
